Why Is Tumi Luggage So Expensive

Luxurious Brand

Luxurious Brand

Tumi products are mainly known for their black-on-black ballistic nylon, simple and minimalistic, yet luxurious.

Their ballistic nylon is what makes them different from their competitors. Tumi is the Louis Vuitton of suitcases and bags.

Just like Louis Vuitton, for Tumi, you pay more for the brand than the products themselves.

What do you think about Is Tumi Worth It?

You get a normal suitcase for about 80-100$, whereas for Tumi, their starting price for their backpacks is 300$.

Tumi cannot make an under-average backpack and call it a day. Behind each of their products goes a lot of hard work, patience, and of course, testing.

Long-Lasting Durable Design

Long-Lasting Durable Design

Tumi’s bags are hard-wearing, resistant, and sturdy. However, Tumi bags or suitcases are not flamboyant.

It’s as said before, imperishable and modest. Tumi’s major priorities lay upon premium materials, products are expensive.

Quality over quantity. The company has other tricks too, their warranty is different,  if some part of the bag fails, they will give the customer some value of the product purchased.

But, if the product is an old model,  then the customer will not get full value. That way, the customer has to add extra cash to get a replacement.

What makes the brand more premium is that the products look and feel better on the inside than on the outside.

The management is supportive and comparatively less of a headache. The individual sale goals create team competition instead of unifying other teams to achieve store goals.

On average, employees can work 6 hours a day on a part-time basis with flexible hours. So, there is a part-time option too on Tumi without underpaying.

Tumi Gives Back

Is Tumi Worth It?

Is Tumi worth it

This is a quite difficult question to answer. But yes, it is worth it, cost is not necessarily an indicator of durability.

Often you are paying for the brand, however, one thing you have to give up for Tumi is weight.

Tumi’s products are not light. An average suitcase weighs about 11.4 pounds where Tumi weighs more, the increased weight, is of course, because of high-quality material and zippers.

But, Tumi has the option for light weighted items too. Tumi does not have a main logo design like LV or Supreme, it’s hard to fake a Tumi.

However, Tumi products are still overpriced for what they are offering, again, paying for the brand name rather than the product itself.

Just like owning something from Chanel or Louis Vuitton makes you look more prestigious, owning a Tumi does the same. Then again, Tumi has never compromised the quality of its products, ever.

Conclusion

As per customer reviews,  the “old” Tumi was better than the one we see today, for durability, sturdiness, everything. But unless you travel heavily on the regular, Tumi backpacks are not for you.
